Pizza rolls stuffed with ham and cheese

Ingredients

  • 320 grams of strength flour
  • 25 milliliters of extra virgin olive oil
  • 7 grams of baker’s yeast powder
  • 170 milliliters of water
  • 1 large tomato
  • Cheese grated to taste
  • 8 slices of ham
  • Oregano to taste

Preparation
To make the dough:

  • In a deep bowl, sift flour and yeast.
  • Add the water and oil and start mixing until you get a compact and smooth mass.
  • Remove the dough from the container and continue kneading on a clean surface, either the table or a chopping board. You must do this vigorously for about 10 minutes.
  • Then, place the dough in the form of a ball in the container, cover it with a paper film and let it ferment for at least an hour. The dough should double in size for that moment.

To fill:

  • Minutes before the deadline for fermentation is reached, finely chop the tomato.
    Heat a little oil in a pan and sauté the tomato until you remove a little liquid. Then, remove it from the fire.
  • Remove the dough from the mold and knead it again with force, spread it with a rolling pin until you create a thin sheet. You can give it a rectangular shape.
  • Place the fried tomato on it with a spoon and sprinkle some oregano.
  • Add the grated cheese equally over the tomato and finally, place the ham cut into squares.
  • Preheat the oven to 200ºC.
  • Take the longest part of the pizza as a reference and roll it from there, be careful that the ingredients do not spill everywhere or remain outside the pizza.
  • Secure the roll by brushing the edge with a little warm water and putting some pressure on the dough.
  • Cut the roll into portions.
  • Place them on a baking tray with some separation.
  • Cook for about fifteen minutes. The ideal point is when the dough is golden brown.
  • Remove the tray from the oven and allow the rolls to cool slightly,
  • Prepare them on a plate and get ready to savor these wonderful pizza rolls.
    It serves for 4 people.

Some additional tips

  • In case you do not want to prepare the dough, you can use the dough for puff pastry or buy it precooked.
  • You can replace the fried tomato with tomato paste, although the flavor will not be so fresh.
  • To avoid that the ingredients leave the pizza, the best thing you can do is not to put any in the areas near the edges.
  • We recommend making small rolls, in this way you will have a greater quantity. This will save you a lot of effort, especially if you prepare them for a party.
